Nigerian music sensation Tems has made a significant mark by becoming the first African artist to perform during the halftime show at the FIFA Club World Cup Final, which took place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
The Grammy Award-winning artist delivered an extraordinary performance, enchanting an audience of over 82,000 attendees at the venue and millions of viewers worldwide.
Tems’ act featured her distinctive soulful vocals combined with lively Afrobeats, resulting in a vibrant display.
She shared the stage with American performer Doja Cat and Australian singer Emmanuel Kelly, creating one of the most memorable moments of the evening.
This landmark performance occurred during the final match between Chelsea and PSG, representing the inaugural halftime show in the history of the FIFA Club World Cup.
Music for Unity and Impact
Before the show, Tems shared the deep significance of her performance. "We're aiming to unite the world for a wonderful moment to honor football, experience the unity music brings, and enhance the lives of millions of children through the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund," she expressed.
Tems has a history of using her music to drive social change. She previously took the stage at the 2022 Global Citizen Festival in Accra, Ghana, where she also championed global unity and empowered youth.
Her ongoing commitment to such important global initiatives has solidified her status as an international icon who is genuinely devoted to making a positive impact with her art.
Colombian star J Balvin also took part in this historic occasion, sharing how proud he felt to be part of such a distinctive celebration.
"From MedellÃn to MetLife – I’m privileged to headline the first halftime show of the FIFA Club World Cup final. It’s a groundbreaking moment for me, for Latin culture, and for every child with big dreams,” he noted.
The 2025 edition of the FIFA Club World Cup featured 32 teams from around the world competing in 11 cities across the United States, taking place from June 14 to July 13.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino praised the halftime show as a “strong symbol of unity and purpose,” stating, “With every ticket bought, we’re investing in the prospects of children through the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. Together, football and music can truly transform the world.”
