Laredo police detained two people after responding to a late-night call at a popular coffee shop on East Saunders Street.
On September 20, 2025, at 10:39 p.m., officers responded to a report of suspicious behavior inside a parked gray Honda CR-V in the Starbucks Coffee parking lot. When police arrived, they identified the individuals as Juan Rodrigo Rodriguez (18) and Maritza De Leon (17).
After seeing both of them without clothes, the officer arrested them and charged them with Public Lewdness, a Class A misdemeanor.
According to the arrest report, Rodriguez stated he believed, based on something he had seen online, that such conduct in a vehicle was acceptable.
In Texas, 17-year-olds can be charged as adults under state law, which applied in this case.
Authorities confirmed the case is still under review. Police emphasized the importance of public awareness and responsible behavior in shared community spaces to ensure safety and respect for all residents.
