According to information we obtained, shooter Sean DeBevoise attended an award ceremony with Kellie Pickler in 2012 before shooting up the American Fish Company restaurant in the Southport Yacht Basin.

Witnesses say the suspect’s boat lingered for nearly an hour before unleashing gunfire, then fled toward Oak Island.
A person of interest is being questioned, but no arrests have been confirmed.
Authorities and online records confirm that Nigel Max Edge is the same person formerly known as Sean William DeBevoise. DeBevoise legally changed his name after years of public disputes with the military and government agencies. A decorated Marine who served in Iraq, he claimed he suffered traumatic brain injuries in 2006 after being struck by friendly fire. He alleged that fellow Marines abandoned him in a warehouse and left him for dead, a story he would later recount in a self-published memoir.
Edge’s medical history included diagnoses of schizophrenia and other cognitive disorders. Over the years, he filed numerous lawsuits against government institutions and became active online, spreading conspiracy theories that involved shadowy plots and a supposed “white supremacist LGBTQ pedophile ring” he believed was targeting him.
In addition to the alarming disclosures, Edge previously had ties to the country music industry. In 2012, while still known as Sean DeBevoise, he attended the CMT Awards as Kellie Pickler's date. The country star even turned to her X (previously account) to share a photo with him, captioned "Me and my date (Sgt Sean Debevoise)," in which they smile for the cameras.
According to social media sources, their relationship swiftly deteriorated; yet, when DeBevoise later sued Pickler, he oddly claimed that she attempted to murder him. According to reports, he eventually acknowledged to making the allegation as part of a PR ploy.
