NYPD Detective Alicia Stone, 40, a mother of three and 13-year department veteran, died in Colombia a week after undergoing a gluteal fat transfer (Brazilian Butt Lift) and liposuction procedure. She was found unresponsive in her hotel room around 6:30 a.m. Thursday and was pronounced dead an hour later at Fundación Valle del Lili Hospital in Cali.

Stone, who served in the Internal Affairs Bureau, had been recovering in a hotel post-surgery while taking anticoagulants and pain medication. Her cause of death was initially listed as unspecified cardiac arrest, though her husband, Michael Stone, has requested an autopsy and investigation to determine what went wrong.

Michael described the loss as “shocking and hurtful,” noting his wife had been “perfectly fine” and feeling “alright” a day before her death. He emphasized that details from the medical team in Colombia were insufficient, prompting his demand for answers.

A fundraiser for Stone’s family described her as a “loving mother of three, and a dedicated public servant who spent her career protecting and serving others,” highlighting the void her passing has left among family, friends, and colleagues.
