Jabari “Baby Uiie” Henley, the son of longtime LA Crips leader and music executive Eugene “Big U” Henley Jr., was shot and killed Friday night outside a smoke shop in South Los Angeles.
Henley, 34, was on the corner of 69th Street and Figueroa Street around 11 p.m. when a gunman opened fire, according to LAPD reports and coverage from TMZ and KTLA. He reportedly walked up to a car on the street when he was shot. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but Henley was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect fled and remains at large.
Jabari Henley is also the older brother of Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Daiyan Henley.
His father, Eugene Henley Jr., known in the music world as “Big U”, is a former leader of the Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Crips and has long been lauded as a pioneering figure in the rap industry. In March, he turned himself in to federal authorities after allegedly running a “Mafia-like” criminal enterprise involving murder, human trafficking, robbery, and extortion across Los Angeles.

Henley Jr. was among 18 alleged members of the Rollin’ 60s charged in a sprawling federal RICO case, which included 43 counts of felonies, tax evasion, and embezzlement tied to his charity, the Big U Enterprise. Acting United States Attorney Joseph McNally said, “Eradicating gangs and organized crime is the Department of Justice’s top priority. Today’s charges against the leadership of this criminal outfit will make our neighborhoods in Los Angeles safer.”
Henley Jr. is also suspected in the 2021 murder of aspiring musician Rayshawn Williams, who had signed with his Uneek Music label. Williams was reportedly fatally shot after recording a song critical of Henley Jr., and his body was allegedly left in a ditch off Interstate 15 in Las Vegas.

Music executive Termaine Ashley Williams, known as “Luce Cannon”, also named in the indictment and currently jailed at LA’s Metropolitan Detention Center, reportedly broke the news of the shooting to Henley Jr. The fatal incident was particularly devastating due to the imprisonment of both men, TMZ reported.
The LAPD has not confirmed whether the shooting was gang-related, and the investigation is ongoing.
