Angelo Theodosiou has been charged with DUI in connection with the crash that claimed the life of his wife, Christina Theodosiou, in a luxury Nocatee neighborhood.
According to reports, the couple was riding through the upscale coastal community on Nov. 30 when Christina fell from their golf cart around 10:45 p.m., striking her head on the pavement. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but passed away the following day.
Investigators noted several signs of impairment in Angelo Theodosiou, including bloodshot, watery eyes and a strong odor of alcohol. Officers reported that they could smell alcohol from about three feet away. At the scene, Theodosiou refused to participate in a field sobriety test and also declined a breathalyzer.
The arrest report states that he repeatedly asked officers the following morning why he had been arrested. His attorney, L. Lee Lockett, said Theodosiou is “heartbroken” and maintains that he was not impaired at the time of the crash.
The 64-year-old was charged with DUI and refusal to submit to testing. He later bonded out of jail, according to reports.
Residents in the Nocatee community expressed concern over recent congestion on a newly opened greenway that mixes golf carts, e-bikes, and pedestrian traffic—some saying they had anticipated an accident due to the increased activity.
Before retiring to Florida, Angelo Theodosiou owned the Jackson House Restaurant in Jackson Heights, Queens, which he operated with his brother beginning in the 1990s. He once said their goal was to treat every customer like “family.” It remains unclear when he officially relocated to the Sunshine State.
