Brad King Identified as Father of Three Killed in Head-On Collision on Highway 18 Near Lake City; Community Rallies Around Grieving Family

Lake City, Arkansas — The family of Brad King, a Manila resident remembered as a devoted husband, father, and friend, is mourning his tragic death following a head-on collision on Highway 18 Friday evening. The crash, which occurred just east of the St. Francis River bridge on December 5, 2025, led to widespread devastation in the community.

According to early reports, the collision happened shortly before 7 p.m., prompting a major emergency response from the Arkansas State Police, local fire departments, and multiple medical teams. Traffic in both directions was shut down as crews worked to treat victims and clear the scene.

Authorities confirmed multiple injuries, with at least 10 people hurt, though early statements from area officials—including Lake City Mayor Cameron Tate—initially reported additional fatalities. Because of conflicting early information, the exact number of casualties remains under review as investigators work to finalize the report.

Arkansas State Police have not yet released details about the vehicles involved or the identities of other victims, citing the need to notify families and complete their preliminary investigation.

Family Shares Heartbreaking News Amid Ongoing Medical Crisis

One of Brad King’s three children, Taylor Flanigan, publicly confirmed her father’s death in an emotional Facebook post, sharing the deep pain felt by their family—especially as their mother continues battling stage 3 cancer.

“My dad, Brad King, was killed last night in the accident in Lake City, along with others in our community. My heart is broken for every family affected,” she wrote. “My mother is also fighting stage 3 cancer, and now we are having to bury our father. We are completely heartbroken, and this has shattered our family.”

Community Support Grows Through GoFundMe

In the wake of the tragedy, friends and neighbors launched a GoFundMe to support the King family through what organizers describe as an unimaginable crisis. Funds will help cover:

  • Funeral and memorial expenses for Brad King

  • Ashley King’s cancer treatments and related medical costs

  • Immediate financial support for the children

The fundraiser notes that Brad King was the family’s sole provider and the source of their health insurance, leaving his wife and children facing significant emotional and financial hardship.

“Brad leaves behind his loving wife, Ashley King, and their three children: Bentley (13), Maddison (20), and Taylor (29). Any amount, no matter how small, will make a difference,” the campaign states.

Investigation Ongoing

The Arkansas State Police continue to investigate the crash and are expected to release additional details once next-of-kin notifications and preliminary findings are complete.
