Dominique Goodman Fatally Shot After Confrontation With Daughter’s Shift Manager Maurice Nolan Evans Outside Palmetto Bojangles

A fatal shooting outside a Bojangles restaurant in Palmetto, Georgia, has left the family of Dominique Goodman grieving after what police say was a confrontation involving the shift manager of his daughter.

Palmetto police responded around 1:15 p.m. Sunday to the Bojangles at 9135 Roosevelt Highway, where officers found Goodman dead in the parking lot.

Authorities have identified the suspect as Maurice Nolan Evans, a Bojangles employee and shift manager from Forest Park. Evans has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault, murder, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

According to Goodman’s family, the incident began earlier in the day when Goodman’s daughter—an employee at the restaurant—had an argument with Evans during her shift. She called her father for help. Police say Evans clocked out around noon but remained in the parking lot, waiting until Goodman arrived.

Investigators believe a confrontation between the two men escalated, ultimately leading to the shooting. The exact circumstances remain under active investigation.

Loved ones described the killing as senseless and heartbreaking. “These people need to put these guns down, and he should’ve gone home like the manager told him and none of this would’ve happened,” said family friend Marlene Lately. “She would have a father. They would have their cousin and their brother — and you know, it’s the holiday.”

Evans is being held at the Fulton County Jail. Authorities advise contacting the jail directly for a booking photo.

Bojangles issued a statement expressing condolences and confirming that the franchisee is cooperating with law enforcement:

“We are aware of the tragic incident that occurred earlier today at a franchised restaurant location in Palmetto, Georgia. Our hearts go out to the victim and all those impacted by this senseless act… We strongly condemn all acts of violence.”

As police continue to investigate, Goodman’s loved ones and the Palmetto community are left grappling with the devastating loss of a father, family member, and friend.
