A White Plains, New York woman, identified as Roseberline Philippe, was brutally beaten to death by her ex-boyfriend and father of her young son, Justin Bartley, inside a Westchester County motel room, authorities said.
Police said the 32-year-old suspect was arrested hours after motel staff at the Days Inn in Elmsford discovered Roseberline’s lifeless body in Room 230 on Sunday morning. Her body showed clear signs of having been severely beaten, according to investigators.
At the time of his arrest, Bartley was already facing pending DUI and weapons possession charges from May and was on probation for a prior gun conviction in Rockland County.
According to Lohud, Bartley and Philippe shared a two-year-old son together. After the alleged killing, Bartley fled the scene, taking the toddler with him. Surveillance footage from the motel reportedly captured him leaving the property with the child. He was later tracked down and arrested in the Bronx by a joint task force including the FBI, village police, and county investigators.

‘She was so sweet and always laughing even if she was dealing with stuff,’ her sister Yvena Philippe told reporters. ‘She was a giver, and he took advantage of her in that way.’
Yvena explained that Bartley and her sister had first met years ago at Port Chester High School but that the relationship had grown volatile after the birth of their son.
Just one day before the murder, Bartley had allegedly shown up at the Philippe family home in White Plains, where Roseberline lived with her parents, and was told to leave.
On Sunday, however, the two met at the Elmsford Days Inn, where investigators say Bartley beat Roseberline for hours before leaving her dead in the room. He then fled with their child to his family’s home in the Bronx.

Roseberline Philippe’s death has left her family and community devastated — a tragic reminder of the dangers faced by victims of domestic violence.
