A young boy named Jacquez has gone viral online after neighbors shared a video of him politely knocking on their door and asking if he could have a plate of food after smelling them grilling outside.
According to the viral clip, the neighbors told the child they had already finished eating but promised to save him some next time. Instead, they handed him a bag of Cheetos. When asked his name, the little boy responded, “Jacquez.”
The woman featured in the video, known online as Miss Ari3, later addressed the situation after social media exploded with debate over the interaction.
In her Instagram caption, she wrote:
“Y’all I can’t make this up 😂😂 The knock I heard on my door and I wasn’t expecting any company caught me off guard. It was this precious kiddo…and now when it’s time to grill…I’ve gotta get extra. Today was literally plant-based sausage, salmon and chicken. Nothing his precious self would’ve wanted so Cheetos will have to do until next time. The neighborhood snack lady is loading ⏳”
The video quickly spread across social media platforms, where thousands of people shared mixed opinions.
Some viewers defended the neighbors, saying nobody is obligated to feed strangers simply because they are cooking outside. Others, however, felt emotional watching the child politely ask for food and believed he should have been given a plate.
One commenter wrote, “A hungry child needs food, don’t make him embarrass.”
Another added, “I would feed him. You never know if that child ate that day.”
Others argued the neighbors still showed kindness by giving him snacks and speaking respectfully to him during the interaction.
The situation has since sparked broader conversations online about childhood hunger, community support, neighborly kindness, and whether videos involving children should be shared publicly on social media.
