Luis Felipe Feliciano Egoroff Identified Among Three Arrested for Murder After Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas Dies in Brazil Bungee Jump Tragedy

LIMEIRA, BRAZIL — A horrific tragedy has sparked nationwide outrage in Brazil after a 21-year-old woman fell to her death during a bungee-jumping event on Saturday, June 13. Investigators revealed she was thrown from a platform without being attached to any safety cords.

The victim, identified as Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas, was participating in an extreme sports event at the "Skeleton Bridge" (Ponte do Esqueleto) in Limeira, a municipality in the state of São Paulo. She plummeted approximately 130 feet (40 meters) into a ravine below. Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but Freitas was tragically pronounced dead upon arrival.

Three Arrested for Homicide with Eventual Intent

Following an immediate investigation, Brazilian Civil Police arrested three men identified as Luis Felipe Feliciano Egoroff, Vitor de Freitas Gonçalves, and Maicon Fernandes Cintra. The trio has been charged with homicide with dolo eventual—a legal term under Brazilian law meaning the suspects acted with willful disregard, fully accepting the high risk of a fatal outcome even if there was no direct intent to kill.

Authorities revealed that while the group organized extreme sports events across multiple cities, they completely lacked authorization or permits to operate at the Skeleton Bridge. In total, law enforcement took six individuals connected to the event into custody, including five men and one woman.

Viral Video Shows Fatal Oversight

Graphic video footage of the incident circulating on social media shows Freitas being escorted onto the launching platform by two men before being pushed off the bridge. In the chilling final moments of the footage, eyewitnesses can be heard screaming frantically that she was not secured to the safety ropes just as she fell.

Witnesses later told Military Police that the event staff completely failed to attach the mandatory safety equipment to Freitas before sending her off the platform. Immediately following the fatal fall, some of the event organizers allegedly fled into the surrounding wilderness. Police successfully tracked down and apprehended two of the fleeing individuals utilizing a helicopter search over a heavily wooded area near the bridge.

Chilling Final Social Media Posts

Prior to the fatal jump, Freitas had been documenting her day on social media, sharing photos and videos of the bridge, the participants, and the equipment setup. Several of her photos prominently featured signs for Entre Cordas, the adventure company responsible for organizing the unauthorized event.

In a heartbreaking final post made just before her death, Freitas joked about the upcoming adrenaline rush, writing, “Who was the crazy person that let me jump off a bridge???”

Her fiancé, who accompanied her to the event and witnessed the horrific sequence of events, reportedly collapsed from shock upon learning of her death and required urgent medical attention.

The tragedy has triggered intense public scrutiny and renewed demands for stricter regulations, mandatory licensing, and rigorous safety protocols across Brazil's adventure tourism sector. The Civil Police investigation remains highly active as authorities finalize criminal charges against those responsible.
