Three people were killed and another person was injured after a mass shooting erupted during a party at a short-term rental home in West Dallas, according to police. The deadly incident has since sparked widespread reactions online after social media posts surfaced targeting one of the victims, identified by friends as “Jaco.”
The shooting happened just after midnight Tuesday at an Airbnb-style rental property in the 3700 block of Vilbig Road near Canada Drive. According to the Dallas Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 12:20 a.m. and arrived to find four people suffering from gunshot wounds.
Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third victim later died after being transported to a hospital. A fourth victim survived and was reported to be in stable condition.
Although authorities have only officially identified two of the victims as 20-year-old Jaiclyn Scott and 19-year-old Journie Griffin, several victims have been identified online by friends and family as:
- Slimey Scott
- Draco
- Jaco
- Journierayy
Investigators said the shooting occurred during a party taking place inside the rental home. According to police at the scene, individuals who were upstairs allegedly began shooting toward partygoers entering the residence downstairs, causing panic and chaos as guests attempted to flee.
Major Bobbie Epperson, commander of the Dallas Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Division, said detectives are still working to determine exactly what led to the gunfire. Authorities also confirmed the suspected shooter fled the scene before officers arrived.
As news of the shooting spread online, social media activity surrounding one of the victims, referred to as “Stud” or “Jaco,” quickly drew attention. A man identified as Demond Turner posted a controversial message on Facebook that rapidly circulated across social media platforms.
“Same lil stud ho who broke into my house twice died lastnight KARMA now rest in piss ol dead ass,” Turner wrote.
The post triggered heated reactions online, with some condemning the remarks as disrespectful while others debated allegations connected to prior incidents. Authorities have not confirmed any claims made in the viral post, and no evidence related to those accusations has been publicly released.
Police said all four victims involved in the shooting were adults. Detectives continue interviewing witnesses, reviewing surveillance footage, and collecting evidence from inside the property as part of the ongoing homicide investigation.
Officials have not yet announced any arrests or identified a suspect publicly.
The deadly shooting has once again raised concerns about violence at large gatherings hosted inside short-term rental homes across Dallas. Residents in the neighborhood reported hearing multiple rapid gunshots followed by screaming and people running from the house shortly after midnight.
The investigation remains ongoing, and Dallas police say additional updates will be released as more information becomes available.
