An Oklahoma father’s viral TikTok video has sparked a massive national conversation about the challenges confronting solo "girl dads" after an irate customer harassed him and called the police for taking his two young daughters into a women’s restroom.
The father, Tyler Brodsky, was traveling back to Oklahoma from Florida when he made a pit stop at a QuikTrip gas station in Alabama so his young daughters could use the restroom. To avoid bringing his little girls into a men's room filled with grown men and dirty stalls, Brodsky opted to use an empty women's restroom.
The situation escalated dramatically when another customer, identified as Robert Buckner—a Starkville, Mississippi native who owns the commercial lighting company Lights & Ballasts—confronted Brodsky inside the facility. Buckner became furious after his wife reported that a man was in the ladies' room, claiming his wife and an ill mother-in-law needed to use the facilities.
In the viral video, which has amassed over 13 million views, Buckner can be heard berating the father and calling law enforcement while Brodsky calmly continues to help his crying daughters wash their faces and hands at the sink.

"There is a man with two little girls using the women’s bathroom," Buckner told the police dispatcher during the recording. "He’s washing his hands with his daughters right now."
As Buckner continued to lose his temper, a QuikTrip employee stepped in to intervene, closing the door on the angry customer and apologizing to Brodsky and his frightened children. Buckner argued that Brodsky had "no business" in the women's restroom and should have instead asked a female gas station employee to take his daughters inside.
Three police officers responded to the scene, but the confrontation did not go the way Buckner anticipated. In a follow-up video, Brodsky revealed that the responding officers completely vindicated him, reassuring him that he had done absolutely nothing wrong.
"The officers let me know I was OK," Brodsky said. "Taking two little girls into the men’s restroom could be viewed as negatively as me going to the women’s restroom with my girls."

Ultimately, the officers instructed Buckner to leave the premises. Brodsky praised both the local police and the QuikTrip staff for ensuring his daughters felt safe afterward, noting that employees even gave the girls free Icees to comfort them.
Brodsky, who spoke with TMZ following the incident, emphasized that he is sharing his story not to encourage harassment against Buckner, but to shine a light on a systemic issue that thousands of parents, grandparents, and caregivers face daily.
"This isn’t about one argument in a gas station," Brodsky stated. "It’s about the fact that parents are often put in situations that aren’t comfortable. We’re simply trying to take care of our children and keep them safe. Hopefully, it’ll bring attention to people who feel the need to berate a mom or dad trying to take care of their kids."
@tylerbrodsky2 Y’all make this man famous. We stopped at a QuikTrip on our road trip from Florida back to Oklahoma so my daughters could use the restroom. The women’s restroom was empty, so I took them in. I’d rather do that than bring two little girls into a men’s bathroom full of grown men and dirty stalls. This guy comes barging in yelling, scares my daughters, and somehow thinks THEY should’ve been in the men’s room instead. Am I wrong here? 🤷♂️ #GirlDad #RoadTrip #parenting #fyp #viral ♬ original sound - Tyler Brodsky
