Officers are presently at Shellbrook Apartments on Twin Beech Road following reports of a woman who has received a gunshot wound. The area has been secured, and the victim has been taken to a nearby hospital for medical care.
The mother stated: “Update: I apologize for not being able to respond to all the messages. Cait was shot five times—three times in the chest, once in the arm, which shattered her humerus, and once in the back. By God's grace, her heart and lungs were missed. She was airlifted to USA Health University in Mobile. She has undergone one surgery due to damage to her liver from a bullet, and another surgery for her arm is scheduled for 7:00. All the bullets remain inside her. They are addressing one issue at a time. Cait Schott is resilient, and her determination to survive for her son is incredibly strong. I believe she will overcome this challenge. Cait and Ollie were in her apartment when this man broke in and fired at her. Ollie witnessed everything. Please keep Cait and poor little Ollie in your thoughts and prayers. I can't imagine the emotional toll this will take on him; it’s a trauma no child should ever have to face. Please say an extra prayer for Cait, as her recovery will be a long journey.
The individual who shot her was a co-worker who had developed an obsession with her. They are still in the process of locating him.”
