Thousands of runners dressed head to toe in red are anticipated to fill the French Quarter on Saturday for the 30th annual Red Dress Run.
The charity event is as well renowned for men and women dressed in magnificent women's red dresses, gowns, and day drinking as it is for its "athleticism". The two-mile race begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday near Armstrong Park's entrance. Participants will walk two miles through the French Quarter, making unscheduled stops at local establishments for adult beverages.
Last year's marathon collected $150,000 for local charity. According to organizers, the revenues from this year's event will help local charitable organizations.
