An inquest heard that an experienced UK skydiver sent a note to her family before dropping 15,000 feet to her death after intentionally failing to open her parachute following a recent breakup.
Jade Damarell, 32, of Caerphilly, South Wales, explained her plans in a notes folder, apologising and thanking her family for their support, according to an inquest into her death today.
Damarell was said to have left a notes folder around 2.30am on the morning of her death, April 27. One was to the family, 'apologising and thanking them for their support'. She also revealed the passwords for her financial accounts.
The marketing manager was a beloved part of her close-knit skydiving community, having performed over 400 successful jumps before falling to her death a few hours later.
Coroner Dr Leslie Hamilton concluded on Thursday that Jade Damarell died by suicide and conveyed his sympathies to the family, according to the UK's Mirror.
The pair met through their ‘mutual love of skydiving’, he said in a brief statement read by coroner Dr Leslie Hamilton, the BBC reported.
Damarrell was not wearing a camera on her helmet for the jump, and had eaten breakfast at the skydive centre at 8.30am before jumping at 10am.
Her body was recovered shortly after at a farmer’s field in County Durham in northeast England. Her cause of death was determined to be the result of ‘blunt trauma.’
Toxicological tests were negative for drink or drugs.
