A Trelawny taxi operator who was previously charged with illegal wounding after a video of him beating a woman with a machete went viral is now facing new charges for suspected sexual offenses.

Cleon Buckle, 42, a Freeman's Hall resident in Albert Town, Trelawny, has been charged.

Ulster Spring Police apprehended and charged Buckle on Friday, September 19, following the machete attack.

According to investigators from the Trelawny Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA), Buckle had previously been issued an arrest warrant in connection with a separate case. He has been accused of sexually assaulting a minor on multiple occasions in 2024.

Arrangements are being made for Buckle to be interviewed and formally charged with these additional offences. He is scheduled to appear in the Ulster Spring Parish Court on Monday, October 6, to address the unlawful wounding charge.

Reports are that about 10:30 a.m. on September  14, the woman went to Buckle’s home to retrieve a car key. An argument ensued, escalating when Buckle allegedly used a machete to strike the woman on her arm before continuing to attack her repeatedly across her body.

A report was made to the police, an investigation was launched and Buckle was subsequently taken into custody and charged.

Investigations are ongoing.
