A heated confrontation at Union Station ended with conservative activist Cam Higby pepper-spraying a woman who he says tried to snatch his MAGA hat while he and a fellow organizer invited passersby to “debate” as part of their self-styled Fearless Tour.
Higby, an activist and podcaster associated with Today Is America, posted video of the incident to social media showing him and another conservative, David Khait, seated outside the station with microphones and signs encouraging debate. The clip shows a woman sitting between them and repeatedly confronting the men. At one point she appears to grab Higby’s hat and throws it in his face, knocking him from his chair. Higby then produces pepper spray and deploys it; the woman falls into a nearby bush.
Arrest and Identity
Local authorities identified the woman as Taylor Alexandra Forte, a public school teacher in Prince George’s County. The United States Park Police arrested her at the scene; officials later confirmed she was booked on multiple charges but declined to immediately detail them. Forte was released soon afterward and later posted on X (formerly Twitter) acknowledging she was the woman in the video.
What the Video Shows
In the footage Higby shared, the woman is heard accusing Higby and Khait of being “evil” and “not Christians.” After the hat is grabbed and Higby is knocked from his seat, he sprays the woman; she can be heard uttering expletives as she stumbles away. Higby captioned the post: “A leftist decided to physically attack me at Union Station tonight. I deployed mace in self defense.” He told FOX 5 that he had given “at least 4 verbal warnings to cease touching me — and then she attacked.”

Statements From Those Involved
Higby defended his actions in interviews and posts, saying he carries pepper spray because of past incidents tied to his activism. He said he believes he acted in self-defense after repeated warnings not to touch him. “I think I show incredible restraint with the points at which I use my Mace,” he said, adding that he would not “throw a punch” at a woman and viewed mace as a less violent alternative.
Forte, after her release, posted sarcastically on X: “Hello it is I! The LEFTIST ATTACKER.” Her social profile describes her as a teacher and drummer; she has not publicly commented in detail about the incident beyond her initial post.
Public Reaction
The clip drew immediate online attention and divided reactions. Some users criticized Higby’s use of pepper spray — “Weak move bro,” one commenter wrote — while others defended him, saying they would have responded more aggressively. Supporters of Higby pointed to previous incidents he cites in explaining why he carries mace; critics argued his response escalated the situation.
Context: The ‘Fearless Tour’
Higby and Khait have traveled to public spaces and college campuses promoting “Fearless Debates,” a series that aims to provoke on-the-spot exchanges with left-leaning students and passersby. Their setup typically includes signs with provocative slogans and microphones inviting people to engage. Organizers say the events are intended to spark conversation; opponents say the approach is deliberately confrontational and risks inciting violence.
Aftermath
United States Park Police processed the arrest and the matter is under review; local prosecutors will determine charges based on evidence and the incident report. Higby posted photos the following day showing the pair set up for debates on Georgetown University’s campus, indicating they planned to continue their tour despite the confrontation.
The Union Station incident is the latest flashpoint in a larger national debate over protest tactics, free speech in public spaces, and what constitutes legitimate self-defense. Authorities and both parties involved say they will cooperate with investigators as the case moves forward.
