A Minnesota community has been left stunned after it was revealed that Kelvin Luebke, 22, fraudulently enrolled at White Bear Lake High School, posing as a student and even joining the school’s football team.
The man, known to students and staff as “KJ”, allegedly used fraudulent documents and a false identity to bypass school enrollment protocols, which require a birth certificate, proof of address, and immunization records. Officials admitted the scheme went undetected until earlier this week.
Arrest and Discovery
Authorities confirmed Luebke’s deception after he was arrested over the weekend on unrelated charges of theft and lewdness. His true age and identity were revealed, prompting school officials to investigate.
White Bear Lake High School Principal Russ Reetz acknowledged the breach in a letter to parents, writing:
“Upon our initial investigation, we have determined that while enrolling this individual we followed our enrollment process, which is as rigorous as state law allows. The individual appears to have provided fraudulent documentation and a false identity to enroll.”
Reetz assured parents that Luebke is now in police custody, banned from school property, and poses no ongoing threat.
Parents Outraged
Despite reassurances, parents expressed anger and fear.
“I’m scared that they’re not keeping our kids safe,” parent April Jorgenson told reporters. “I don’t understand how this man got into my kid’s school.”
Many believe Luebke’s true motive was to prey on young female students — a concern heightened by his criminal history.
Troubling Background
Records show Luebke was previously convicted in 2023 in Washington County for sending a nude photo of himself to a 15-year-old girl. He was arrested this past weekend for violating probation tied to that case.
Investigators have also confirmed that this is not the first time Luebke infiltrated a Minnesota high school. A spokesperson for the Forest Lake Area School District revealed that he fraudulently enrolled there in 2022, played on the football team, and remained enrolled until 2023.
A local resident told WCCO that Luebke had been living with his family, claiming he thought the man was working, not attending school.
Current Status
Luebke is being held at the Anoka County Jail, facing potential charges of fraud, forgery, and misconduct involving minors.
The case has raised urgent questions about the vulnerability of school enrollment systems and the safety of students.
Authorities continue to investigate.
