Makaela Caldwell Hodgins, Randolph County Teacher and Cheer Coach, Indicted for Alleged Sexual Relationship with Student Under 19 in Alabama

A 32-year-old Alabama teacher, Makaela Caldwell Hodgins, who previously worked as a Randolph County High School cheer coach and educator, has been indicted on one count of having sex with a student under the age of 19, nearly a year after leaving the school.

According to court documents cited by 1819 News, Hodgins, a married mother of two from Woodland, was arrested and held on a $30,000 bond. She has pleaded not guilty during her initial court appearance. The age of the alleged victim has not been disclosed.

Hodgins joined the Randolph County School System on August 2, 2021, and her last day of employment was November 15, 2024, according to Superintendent John Jacobs. The indictment comes almost a year after she left the school district, raising questions about what led to the delay and how the allegations surfaced.
