Monica Emerson, Daytona Beach Woman, Mauled to Death by Her Four Dogs After Epileptic Episode

A 38-year-old woman from Daytona Beach, Florida, identified as Monica Emerson, has tragically died after being mauled to death by her own four pet dogs following a suspected medical emergency at her home.

Emergency responders rushed to Emerson’s residence shortly after 7 p.m. on October 10, after her boyfriend arrived to find her unresponsive and suffering from severe injuries. Despite paramedics’ best efforts, Emerson could not be revived.

Upon arrival, officers found four dogs roaming freely throughout the home — an adult male mixed breed and his three adult offspring. An incident report described the scene as distressing, with animal feces scattered across the house and Emerson’s body discovered in a back room beside a bed.

According to the report, the victim suffered severe injuries, including missing skin and multiple wounds on her face, lips, and left arm.

During questioning, Emerson’s boyfriend told authorities that he had gone to her home after being unable to reach her by phone. When he entered and saw the horrific aftermath, he immediately called emergency services. He also explained that Emerson had epilepsy and required medication twice daily.

The Daytona Beach Police Department confirmed that Emerson’s injuries were consistent with an animal attack, and that there was no indication of human foul play.

Preliminary findings suggest that Emerson may have suffered an epileptic episode, causing her to lose consciousness — during which time the dogs fatally attacked her.
