Authorities in Oregon have charged William Glen Blake, 56, and his teenage son in connection with the death of Jennifer Ruth Stuart, 38.
Detectives from the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) and the Oregon City Police Department arrested Blake on Thursday, October 23, for second-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, unlawful use of a weapon, and tampering with evidence. He is being held without bail.
Blake’s 15-year-old son was also taken into custody for allegedly helping move Stuart’s remains, facing charges of abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence. Authorities have not released his name. Investigators have also interviewed Blake’s 17-year-old son regarding the case.
Officials believe Stuart was killed on August 15 at the couple’s residence in Oregon City. Her body was later discovered on September 1 in Mount Hood National Forest.
Friends of the victim expressed shock and grief. Mike Chaney, a friend of Stuart, told KPTV:
“She was a good girl, but she's in a better place, I guess. When I found out, it hit me in my stomach, it hurt. Why do we have to lose the good ones when there are so many bad people out there?”
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not released further details about the motive.
