Authorities have arrested Zecqueous Morgan-Thompson (25) of Wilmington, Delaware, in connection with the mass shooting at Lincoln University in Chester County, Pennsylvania, that left one person dead and six others injured during the school’s homecoming celebrations.
According to investigators, a Lincoln University police officer spotted Morgan-Thompson holding a loaded Glock 28 pistol shortly after shots rang out during the crowded homecoming festivities around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 25. When questioned, the suspect allegedly told officers that the gun belonged to his mother and that he had driven with it from Wilmington earlier that day.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether Morgan-Thompson is a student at the historically Black university. During questioning, the 25-year-old admitted that he had kept the loaded firearm on him throughout the evening and did not possess a license to carry a concealed weapon.
Chester County District Attorney Christopher de Barrena-Sarobe announced that Morgan-Thompson has been charged with Felony Firearms Not To Be Carried Without a License and is being held at Chester County Prison on $25,000 cash bail.

Investigators are conducting ballistic tests on the seized Glock to determine whether it was used in the shooting that claimed the life of Jujuan Jeffers (25), also of Wilmington, Delaware. Jeffers was pronounced dead shortly after midnight from a gunshot wound to the head. Six other victims, ranging in age from 20 to 25, were hospitalized with injuries and are expected to survive. Among the wounded were a current Lincoln University student and an alumnus, while the remaining victims were not affiliated with the university.

“We’re operating under the belief that the shooter or shooters in this case did not come here with the specific design to cause a mass casualty event,” District Attorney de Barrena-Sarobe said. “We’re treating this as a shooting that broke out.”
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the FBI tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI (225-5324).
Founded in 1854 as the Ashmun Institute and renamed after President Lincoln in 1866, Lincoln University remains one of the nation’s first degree-granting historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). In the aftermath of the shooting, the university has suspended classes for Monday and made counseling services available to students and staff throughout the week.
