A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded early Saturday in Downtown Dallas, where 23-year-old Aya Knox was struck by an SUV and dragged down the street while pinned underneath the vehicle. Dallas police responded to the 1500 block of Elm Street around 4:40 a.m. and found Knox trapped beneath the SUV. She was rushed to a nearby hospital by Dallas Fire-Rescue but later died from her injuries.

Authorities say the driver remained at the scene and has been cooperating with investigators as the incident remains under active review. A witness who began recording after the SUV stopped said he saw Knox trip into the street moments before she was hit. Her aunt, Nakia Clay, described the loss as “traumatic” and “surreal,” saying the family is struggling to process the sudden tragedy.
