A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded early Saturday in Downtown Dallas, where 23-year-old Aya Knox was struck by an SUV and dragged down the street while pinned underneath the vehicle. Dallas police responded to the 1500 block of Elm Street around 4:40 a.m. and found Knox trapped beneath the SUV. She was rushed to a nearby hospital by Dallas Fire-Rescue but later died from her injuries.
Authorities say the driver remained at the scene and has been cooperating with investigators as the incident remains under active review. A witness who began recording after the SUV stopped said he saw Knox trip into the street moments before she was hit. A long trail of blood stretched down the roadway, showing the distance the vehicle traveled while she was still underneath it.
