Charles LeFlores Franklin has been arrested in connection with the killing of Kay Milani. According to investigators, Franklin was taken into custody within 48 hours of the fatal shooting.
Detective Brian McCall of the Lake County Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force, working alongside Indiana State Police, secured murder charges shortly after the incident. Franklin and Milani—also known as Arrianna Miles in official records—lived together in Gary, Indiana, and shared a child. Authorities say the shooting followed a domestic dispute and involved a sawed-off shotgun kept inside the home.
Records show that Franklin is a serious violent felon with a prior robbery conviction out of Cook County, Illinois, and is legally prohibited from possessing any firearms.
On November 19, 2025, Franklin, 26, was formally charged with the November 17 murder of Arrianna Miles, 26, in the 2400 block of Pennsylvania Street in Gary, according to the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office.
Franklin now faces multiple charges, including:
-
Murder
-
Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon
-
Domestic Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon
-
Intimidation
-
Domestic Battery
He is also subject to felony firearm enhancements, which significantly increase potential sentencing. If convicted on all counts, Franklin faces up to 85 years in prison.
