Actress and podcaster Dasha Nekrasova, 34, has been dropped by her talent agency Gersh and removed from an upcoming Hollywood thriller after widespread backlash over her decision to host an interview with far-right activist Nick Fuentes on her podcast Red Scare.
Nekrasova — known for her roles in HBO’s Succession and A24’s Materialists — had been poised for a major career moment with a co-starring role in the film Iconoclast. But the studio behind the project fired her on Friday after learning she had recently conducted a lengthy podcast interview with Fuentes, a highly controversial political figure banned from multiple platforms for extremist rhetoric.
According to Deadline, Gersh also severed ties with Nekrasova, citing ongoing concerns about her political podcast and specifically the two-and-a-half-hour interview she released in late October. The episode, uploaded to YouTube before being removed, reportedly reached more than 220,000 views and featured discussions on a range of inflammatory topics — including the Holocaust, antisemitism, and immigration.
The episode was part of Nekrasova’s long-running Red Scare podcast, which she co-hosts with Anna Khachiyan and which often blends cultural commentary with provocative political conversations. During the interview, Nekrasova pressed Fuentes on his beliefs — a move she framed as journalistic inquiry, though many critics argued the platforming itself was irresponsible given Fuentes’ record.

Fuentes, a figure aligned with the “America First” and self-identified Christian nationalist movements, has previously been banned from YouTube, PayPal, Facebook, and other platforms for violations related to hate speech. He remains active on X, where he regained access under Elon Musk’s leadership and currently has more than a million followers.
Once word of the interview began circulating, industry reaction was swift. Hollywood insiders reportedly expressed concern that featuring Nekrasova in Iconoclast could alienate audiences and invite controversy — even though her contract for the film had not yet been finalized. The studio ultimately opted to cut ties entirely, citing reputational risk.
The fallout underscores the increasingly fragile balance public figures face when engaging with divisive political voices. While Nekrasova has long cultivated a reputation for provocative commentary — at times identifying with left-leaning politics and at other moments engaging conservative or nationalist audiences — this interview appears to have crossed a line in the eyes of industry stakeholders.
Some commentators have framed the episode as a free-speech issue, arguing artists should be able to host difficult conversations without professional retaliation. Others counter that giving a platform to figures known for extremist rhetoric can have real-world consequences and carries responsibility.
For now, both Nekrasova’s podcast and career remain under intense scrutiny. Whether the controversy will diminish her standing long-term or strengthen her appeal among an increasingly fragmented audience remains to be seen.
