Authorities in Jacksonville, Florida, have charged Logan Fletcher Park, 24, with two counts of DUI manslaughter following a seven-month investigation into a tragic crash that claimed the lives of Bayview Elementary School teacher Michael Patch and his one-year-old son, Everett.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the fatal collision occurred on May 16, 2025, at around 8:30 p.m. Patch and his infant son were crossing Baymeadows Road when they were struck by a Honda Civic driven by Park. Both victims died at the scene from their injuries.
Investigators said Park was taken to a hospital for treatment after the crash, where a blood alcohol test showed a BAC of .107 — well above Florida’s legal limit of 0.08. After months of investigation, an arrest warrant was issued. Park turned himself in on Sunday and was officially charged. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Wednesday, December 3.

In a letter to Bayview families, Principal Kelly York expressed the school community’s grief over the devastating loss. “We will all certainly remember Mr. Patch for his incredible commitment to students and to the teaching profession,” York wrote. “He was a dedicated educator and a well-loved and respected member of our Brave family.
