A Louisville woman has been arrested and charged with murder after police say she fatally shot her live-in boyfriend during a domestic dispute late Friday night. Maria Elana Swann, 25, is accused of killing 27-year-old Isaiah J. Washington inside their home on Cedar Street.

Louisville Metro Police officers were called to the residence in the 2700 block of Cedar Street around 8:40 p.m. on November 21, 2025, after reports of a shooting. When officers entered the home, they found Washington with a gunshot wound to the face. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to investigators, Swann waived her Miranda Rights and admitted to shooting Washington during what she described as a verbal altercation. Police say the pair lived together and were in a relationship at the time of the incident.

Swann was taken into custody at the scene and charged with murder – domestic violence. During a court appearance Monday, a judge set her bond at $250,000 cash.

Court records reiterate that Swann admitted to firing the fatal shot following the argument. Police continue to review the circumstances surrounding the killing as part of their ongoing investigation.

Swann is scheduled to return to court on December 4.
