Naked Intruder Terrorizes Woman Before Vietnam War Veteran Shoots Him Dead in Studio City Home Invasion

A 79-year-old Vietnam War veteran heroically defended a woman and himself after a naked intruder broke into a Studio City, California home early Friday morning, leading to a deadly confrontation.

The terrifying ordeal unfolded just after 7 a.m. on Tujunga Avenue, a quiet residential neighborhood near the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley.

According to the LAPD, the nude suspect had been wandering the area moments earlier, screaming incoherently and attempting to break into multiple homes before forcing his way into the residence, where a woman and two others, including the elderly veteran — identified by neighbors only as George — were inside.

LAPD Captain Warner Castillo told reporters that the veteran repeatedly warned the intruder to leave. “The 79-year-old man tells the suspect to leave, tells him, ‘I have a gun and I will shoot you.’ The suspect grabs the man, lifts him, throws him on the ground — and that’s when the man suffered two broken legs,” Castillo said.

Despite his severe injuries, George managed to grab his firearm and open fire on the assailant. “The suspect got shot one time and still approached the 79-year-old. The man then fired again, killing him,” Castillo confirmed.

Police said the intruder was shot multiple times before collapsing inside the home.

Moments before the incident, surveillance video showed the suspect stumbling through the street completely nude, shouting and trying to open car doors. Witnesses described him as appearing “psychotic” or “high on drugs,” banging on gates and behaving erratically.

Neighbors reported hearing gunfire before police arrived to find the suspect dead and George critically injured.

“I looked over, and the naked guy was on the ground — and the older guy was on the ground — and he shot him two more times,” a neighbor told ABC News.

George was rushed to a local hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery for two broken legs. Police say his condition is stable.

“Hopefully he makes it out of here without being in a wheelchair for the rest of his life,” Captain Castillo said, calling the veteran’s actions courageous under extreme duress.

The shocking incident has left the normally peaceful Studio City community rattled.

“I think it’s a textbook example of self-defense, and I really hope he does not face charges,” neighbor Betsy Weiss told CBS News.

Police later found a Toyota Prius parked around the corner with the driver’s door open and a pile of clothes nearby, believed to belong to the intruder. The vehicle was impounded as evidence.

Authorities say the case will be presented to Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman, who will determine whether any charges are necessary.
