Atlanta, Georgia — Ty Sanders has been identified as the suspect in the fatal stabbing of Kenin Kenny inside a Buckhead high-rise apartment building early Wednesday morning, according to information released by authorities.
Atlanta police responded around 12:30 a.m. to the Huntley Apartments on Park Avenue after reports of a violent altercation. When officers arrived, they found a man in his 20s or early 30s — now identified as Kenny — dead in a hallway from a stab wound to the chest.
A second man, believed to be Sanders, was also found injured during the incident and was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Detectives plan to interview him to determine what led to the deadly confrontation and whether charges will be filed.
Investigators say the stabbing appears to have stemmed from a dispute between two acquaintances inside one of the apartment units. Neighbors reported hearing a loud commotion just before police arrived. Authorities are reviewing doorbell camera footage and other surveillance video from the building to piece together the sequence of events.
Animal control officers were also called to the scene after officers learned that a large animal was inside the apartment unit where the dispute began. No information has yet been released about the animal’s involvement or condition.
Police are still working to determine the exact relationship between Sanders and Kenny and whether either man lived in the unit where the altercation took place.
The investigation remains active as detectives continue collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses in hopes of understanding what led to the fatal encounter.
