A 15-year-old girl in Port St. Lucie, Florida, has been charged with felony criminal mischief after body camera footage captured her violently attacking a police car with a shovel. The incident unfolded on November 3, when officers responded to a disturbance call involving Amy Chance.

In the video, Chance is seen in the middle of the street, holding a metal shovel and striking the hood of a Port St. Lucie Police patrol car repeatedly. The officers, arriving at the scene, immediately ordered Chance to drop the weapon. One of the officers, clearly startled by the situation, is heard exclaiming, “Are you kidding me?” before drawing a Taser and aiming it at the teen.

Despite being confronted with the Taser, Chance initially stares down the officer before reluctantly dropping the shovel. However, as she walks away, she flips off the officer and ignores commands to stop. The situation escalated when one of the officers ordered her to “Get on the f***ing ground” before forcing her to kneel on the pavement while he handcuffed her.

Chance was arrested without further incident and later charged with felony criminal mischief for causing over $1,200 worth of damage to the police cruiser. In a statement, the Port St. Lucie Police Department emphasized that “regardless of age,” anyone intentionally damaging property in the city will be arrested.

At this time, the reasons behind the initial disturbance and why Chance chose to attack the police car remain unclear. However, the unsettling video footage has drawn attention to the teen’s aggressive behavior and the tense confrontation with law enforcement.
