Former Nickelodeon actor Tylor Chase, best known for playing Martin Qwerly on Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide, has sparked widespread concern after a video surfaced showing him appearing to be homeless and living on the streets of Los Angeles.
Chase, now 36, was filmed in Riverside earlier this year in a video that quickly circulated on social media. In the clip, a woman approaches him and asks if he had appeared on the Disney Channel. Chase calmly corrected her, explaining that he worked on Nickelodeon and starred on Ned’s Declassified. He also shared his full name during the brief exchange.
The video prompted an outpouring of sadness and concern online, particularly from fans who recognized Chase from his childhood acting career. Former co-stars from Ned’s Declassified later addressed the situation publicly, describing the footage as difficult and troubling to watch.
Actors Daniel Curtis Lee, Devon Werkheiser, and Lindsey Shaw discussed Chase’s situation during an episode of the Ned’s Declassified Podcast Survival Guide on September 24.
“There was some bad news that I received earlier this week about our dear friend Tylor Chase,” Lee said, calling the video “scary” and emotionally overwhelming. He admitted he initially struggled to accept what he was seeing.
“I didn’t want to believe it at first,” Lee added, saying he hoped Chase had simply been filmed during a difficult moment. “But then I saw other videos, and it looks like he’s going through some things.”
Werkheiser and Shaw echoed similar feelings, expressing love and concern for their former co-star. Shaw said she hoped to see Chase in person and support him directly.
“You can’t do much, but I would love to go speak with him and just love on him,” she said. “I miss Tylor so much.”
Werkheiser acknowledged the discomfort surrounding the video but said he believed the person who filmed it had good intentions.

“It’s painful and shocking to see where he is currently at,” Werkheiser said. “It’s hard to see someone you love from such a special time in life facing this.”
Chase, who is originally from Arizona, began acting as a teenager in the early 2000s. In addition to Ned’s Declassified, he appeared in Everybody Hates Chris and the 2008 film Good Time Max.
There has been no recent public statement from Chase himself. Reports indicate that a GoFundMe campaign connected to him was shut down by his mother, though details surrounding that decision remain unclear.
Fans and former colleagues continue to express hope that Chase can reconnect with support systems and find stability in the future.
