Two people were killed Tuesday morning in an apparent murder-suicide at the Hanover Landing Apartments on Wilshire Boulevard in Wilmington, North Carolina, according to the Wilmington Police Department. The incident occurred around 11 a.m., prompting an immediate response from officers.
Police confirmed that both victims were shot and pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities identified the deceased as Delonte Reed, 40, and Eureka McDonald, 46.
Investigators believe the shooting was related to domestic violence and ended in a murder-suicide. Officers emphasized that the event was isolated and posed no ongoing danger to the public.
In a statement released Tuesday evening, the Wilmington Police Department said that based on the evidence and the nature of the scene, they determined the incident was contained. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to understand the circumstances that led to the deaths of Delonte Reed and Eureka McDonald.
