A Westdale Middle School counselor and coach, identified as Quinton Dixon, has been placed on administrative leave following allegations that he sent inappropriate messages to a minor, according to the East Baton Rouge Parish School System (EBR Schools).
The situation came to light after a post circulated on social media alleging that Dixon exchanged inappropriate chat messages with a student. Shortly after the screenshots began circulating online, Dixon deactivated his social media account.
EBR Schools confirmed Thursday that district officials were made aware of the allegations and immediately launched an internal investigation.
“Today, the East Baton Rouge Parish School System was made aware of these allegations and immediately launched an investigation,” an EBR Schools spokesperson said in a statement. “The employee has been placed on administrative leave while the Office of Human Resources conducts a thorough investigation. The district takes all such matters seriously and will take appropriate action based on the findings in accordance with our policies.”
At this time, no criminal charges have been announced, and officials have not released additional details regarding the nature of the alleged messages. The district emphasized that placing an employee on administrative leave is a standard procedure while investigations are ongoing.
The matter remains under review, and EBR Schools stated that further action will depend on the outcome of the investigation.
