One teenager is dead and another remains in critical condition following a tragic sledding accident in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, authorities said.
The incident occurred Sunday afternoon in Frisco, Texas, near the intersection of Majestic Gardens Drive and Killian Court, according to the Frisco Police Department.
Police said a Jeep Wrangler, driven by a 16-year-old male, was pulling a sled carrying two 16-year-old girls when the sled struck a curb and then slammed into a tree. Witnesses told investigators the impact left both teens with life-threatening injuries.
Frisco police and fire crews responded to the scene shortly before 2:30 p.m., performing life-saving measures before transporting both girls to local hospitals.

Angle’s parents remembered their daughter as a “bright light, fun spirit, and brave soul,” while tributes poured in from friends, teammates, and members of the community.
Wakeland High School, where the teens attended, expressed condolences following the fatal crash.

In a statement, the Frisco Police Department urged the public to avoid towing sleds behind vehicles, warning that the practice is extremely dangerous and can quickly turn deadly.
“The Frisco Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends affected by this tragic incident,” police said. “Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.”
The incident remains under investigation.
