Enzo Zampieri Igor Allegedly Flees to U.S. After Dog Orelha Was Brutally Killed in Santa Catarina

Brazilian authorities are investigating allegations that Enzo Zampieri Igor fled to the United States after he and two other teenagers — Pedro Kowalski and Evandro Daux Mussi Boabaid — were involved in the brutal killing of a community dog named Orelha in Santa Catarina, Brazil.

According to information released by investigators, the dog was allegedly killed after a nail was driven into his head. The incident sparked widespread national outrage and prompted an expanded criminal investigation.

The Civil Police of Santa Catarina said the group of teenagers accused of beating Orelha to death at Praia Brava, in Florianópolis, also allegedly attempted to kill another community dog, Caramelo, at the same location. Police stated there is video evidence showing the youths picking up the animal, and witnesses reported seeing the group throw the dog into the sea.

Caramelo survived the incident, managed to escape, and was later adopted.

Delegate Mardjoli Valcareggi confirmed that investigators are now examining additional allegations beyond Orelha’s killing, including witness intimidation involving adults connected to the case and an attempted killing of another dog in the area.

Orelha’s death has deeply shaken the local community. The dog had lived for nearly ten years at Praia Brava, one of the most upscale neighborhoods in Florianópolis, and was widely regarded as a neighborhood mascot. Residents and shopkeepers regularly fed him, and he freely roamed the area alongside other community dogs who received informal care and shelter from locals.

The case came to public attention on the 16th, when residents reported Orelha missing. Forty-eight hours later, one of his caretakers found him severely injured and suffering in a wooded area. He was rushed to a veterinary clinic, but due to the extent of his injuries, veterinarians made the decision to euthanize him.

Authorities suspect Orelha was beaten with sticks, and the investigation remains ongoing as police work to determine individual responsibility and whether additional charges will be filed.
