Euridiana Ramirez Sanz and Edgar Joel Torres Found Dead in Apparent Lawrence, Massachusetts Murder-Suicide

Lawrence, Massachusetts — A Massachusetts couple involved in a long-term, reportedly “toxic” relationship were found dead over the weekend in an apparent murder-suicide, authorities confirmed.

Lawrence police responded to a wellness check at an apartment at 582 Essex Street just after 9 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, where they discovered the bodies of 32-year-old Edgar Joel Torres and 30-year-old Euridiana Ramirez Sanz, both suffering gunshot wounds, according to Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker and Lawrence Police Chief Maurice Aguilar.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Torres is believed to have shot Sanz before taking his own life. Autopsies were scheduled for Sunday to confirm the cause of death, DA Tucker said.

Troubled History

Family members described the couple’s relationship as “toxic,” and media reports noted prior incidents of violence. Both Torres and Sanz were arrested on September 1, 2018, after police responded to reports of gunfire in the Beacon Projects area of Lawrence.

The case is currently under active investigation by the Essex County District Attorney’s Office State Police Detective Unit, Lawrence police detectives, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
