MERIDIAN, Idaho — A 27-year-old man was killed Sunday afternoon in a deadly shooting in Meridian, and Jacob L. Streat, 23, of Nampa, has been arrested on a charge of second-degree murder, according to Meridian Police.

The shooting occurred around 12:30 p.m. in the parking lot of a McDonald’s at 195 E. Central Drive, just north of the Interstate 84 and Meridian Road interchange. Police said the incident may have stemmed from a road rage confrontation or traffic dispute that began on Interstate 84.

Meridian police reported that Streat and the victim confronted each other in the parking lot, where Streat discharged a handgun, firing more than a dozen rounds. Multiple rounds struck the victim, who was unarmed.

Vehicles involved in the incident included a silver 2023 Toyota Tacoma and a blue 2009 Honda Accord, which police said were likely traveling eastbound on I-84 between Nampa and Meridian prior to the shooting.
