Social media has revealed the identities of a female student and the teacher she allegedly stabbed — along with herself — during a disturbing incident at a Billings, Montana high school earlier this month.
Kaylie Wirkman Lear, an 18-year-old student at Billings Senior High School, is accused of stabbing math teacher Jason Rader, 34, multiple times on Tuesday, January 13, shortly after regular school hours at approximately 4:23 p.m. Authorities say Lear then turned the knife on herself, stabbing herself three times, including once in the neck.
School officials confirmed that staff immediately contacted 911 and placed the building on lockdown. Rader was transported for medical treatment and is reported to be in stable condition. Lear was also hospitalized following the incident. Law enforcement stated that all individuals involved were accounted for and that there was no ongoing threat to the public.
The school district said it is working closely with the Billings Police Department, noting that the case remains an active criminal investigation. Officials declined to release further details, citing privacy concerns and the integrity of the investigation.
While authorities have not addressed a possible motive, social media quickly began filling in the gaps. Rumors circulated online alleging a secret relationship between the student and the teacher, claims that have not been confirmed by law enforcement. One widely shared post, accompanied by a photo of Rader with his wife and children, alleged that Lear attacked him after he attempted to cut off contact. The post claimed both survived and were recovering, though officials have not substantiated these allegations.
Online attention soon turned to Lear’s TikTok account, @imrealllypretty, which had amassed roughly 80,000 followers before the incident. Her content largely focused on fashion and aesthetic videos, but users began resurfacing reposts and comments centered around student-teacher relationships and fixation on infamous cases.
According to online commentator AbbyBlabby, Lear frequently reposted content romanticizing inappropriate relationships and shared videos related to Jodi Arias, the woman convicted of murdering her boyfriend. Her Pinterest account allegedly included a board dedicated to Arias, as well as another titled “let’s make love with our teachers,” a lyric taken from a Lana Del Rey song. Observers noted that the boards appeared to glamorize obsession and forbidden relationships.
Further reflected Ilea Pacheco, internet users uncovered additional troubling material across Lear’s platforms. One Pinterest board titled “literally me” reportedly featured multiple images of Jodi Arias, including a well-known photo taken after her conviction. Lear also commented on TikTok videos referencing inappropriate teacher-student dynamics, replying to one post saying “noooo its traumatizing,” and to another stating, “I’m so sorry girl. I’ve experienced this exactly."
