Oklahoma City Teen William Spencer Arrested After Allegedly Stabbing Brother Nicholas Spencer to Death During Video Game Dispute

An Oklahoma City teenager has been arrested and charged with murder after allegedly stabbing his older brother to death during a dispute that erupted while the two were playing video games at home, according to police.

William Spencer, 19, was taken into custody Sunday night, Jan. 18, after officers responded to a reported domestic stabbing near Southeast 44th Street and South Bryant Avenue in the Del City area. Authorities say Spencer himself called 911 and admitted to stabbing his brother, 25-year-old Nicholas Spencer, after becoming enraged.

When officers with the Oklahoma City Police Department arrived at the residence just before 8:30 p.m., they found Nicholas Spencer suffering from multiple serious stab wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators determined that the brothers had been playing a video game when an argument escalated. According to an OCPD statement, William Spencer became angry during the game and stabbed his brother during the confrontation.

OCPD Master Sgt. Gary Knight described the incident as “a very tragic story,” telling reporters that what began as a routine activity between siblings turned deadly in a matter of moments. “Two brothers were playing video games. One became enraged over the game, got mad at the other, and simply stabbed him to death,” Knight said.

Police said William Spencer remained at the scene after the stabbing and was cooperative with officers. He was taken into custody, interviewed by investigators, and later booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center. Authorities stated that Spencer admitted to the stabbing during questioning.

William Spencer has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held at the Oklahoma County Jail on a $10 million bond. It is unclear when he is scheduled to appear in court.

Investigators have not released details about the specific video game involved or whether other family members were present in the home at the time of the incident. The Oklahoma City Police Department said the investigation remains ongoing and encouraged anyone with information related to the case to contact the Homicide Tip-Line at (405) 297-1200.
