Tristan Carr Confesses to Fatally Shooting Duke at Westside McKenzie Court

Tristan Carr has confessed to fatally shooting a man known as Duke at the Westside McKenzie Court Apartments in West Tuscaloosa.

The fatal shooting occurred Thursday evening, according to early reports from local authorities. Captain Marty Sellers, co-commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, confirmed that a male victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, a specialized team made up of detectives from the Tuscaloosa Police Department, Northport Police, University of Alabama Police, and the County Sheriff’s Office, is handling the investigation. The unit investigates nearly all deaths outside of hospital settings, as well as serious assault and sex crime cases, working across jurisdictional boundaries to ensure a thorough inquiry.

Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting or the relationship between Tristan Carr and the victim. The investigation is ongoing, and police urge anyone with information to come forward.
