A high school secretary in Union City, Indiana, Alicia Hughes, 31, has been arrested after police say she was discovered by her husband in a sexual encounter with a student, leading to an investigation that uncovered alleged relationships with two students.

According to the Union City Police Department, officers responded to a weekend call reporting a battery. Authorities say Hughes’ husband allegedly caught her with an 18-year-old student and confronted them, during which he reportedly assaulted her. That incident is under investigation by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department.

Investigators allege Hughes also had a sexual relationship with a minor student and she now faces five counts of child seduction tied to that allegation. Officials have not stated whether she will face charges related to the alleged encounter with the 18-year-old student. Her husband’s identity has not been released, and it is unclear if he will be charged in connection with the reported assault.

Hughes worked as a secretary for Randolph Eastern School Corporation. Superintendent Neal Adams said she has been removed from all duties involving students while the case proceeds and that the district will not comment further because the investigation is ongoing.

Authorities say Hughes was booked into the Randolph County Jail on a $25,000 cash-only bond. Officials have not released additional details, and the investigation remains active.
