David Ciccarelli Identified as Olive Garden Employee Who Died After Fryer Incident in Williamsport

David Ciccarelli has been identified by a close friend as the Olive Garden employee who died following a tragic incident involving a deep fryer at a restaurant in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

According to authorities and emergency dispatch audio, the male employee entered the kitchen area last Friday afternoon, removed his clothing, and placed his head into a hot fryer while coworkers attempted to intervene. Multiple 911 calls described a chaotic scene as staff members tried to stop him and render aid.

“A male victim went head first into the fryers,” a dispatcher can be heard saying in recorded emergency audio. Another operator described “a lot of people screaming” and reported a severe burn victim at the scene.

The employee was rushed to a nearby hospital with critical burn injuries but later died as a result of those injuries, officials confirmed.

While law enforcement has not publicly released the victim’s name, a friend identified him online as David Ciccarelli and shared a message expressing grief over the loss.

“His name was David Ciccarelli, and he had so much going for him,” the friend wrote. “It’s honestly so sad that someone with as much talent and skill as him did that to himself.”

Authorities have not confirmed what led to the incident, nor have they released details regarding possible contributing factors. The investigation remains ongoing.
