Jason “Chevyboyjay” has publicly denied responsibility amid growing online speculation surrounding the death of Tyrone “Step Daddy Dro” Davis Jr., whose passing in December continues to raise questions among family members and the public.
In a lengthy social media post, Jason addressed what he described as false accusations circulating online, urging the public to allow law enforcement to complete its investigation.
“I’m so tired of the FALSE ACCUSATIONS,” Jason wrote. “Instead of letting the detectives do their job and figure out what happened, you all chose to bring it to Social Media like they could help.”
Jason stated that Tyrone would not have wanted details surrounding his death shared publicly, calling the matter deeply personal. He described efforts he says he made to understand what happened, including contacting the city of Gainesville about traffic camera footage, speaking with officers upon returning to see Tyrone injured, and attempting to have him transferred to another hospital after doctors declared him brain-dead.
“I’ve been trying to get answers and help baby in whatever way I could since the day he went to the hospital,” he wrote.
Police Say Death Not Suspicious
According to the Gainesville Police Department, officers responded on December 27 to reports of an injured person near Southwest Archer Road by the I-75 overpass. Detectives say their initial investigation determined that Tyrone Davis Jr. jumped from a moving vehicle while in traffic, suffering severe head injuries.
After several days in the hospital, Davis was pronounced dead. Police have stated that his death is not considered suspicious.
Family Disputes Official Explanation
Family members of Davis Jr. have publicly questioned the police account, stating they do not believe he would jump from a moving vehicle. They have also raised concerns about inconsistencies in the information provided and questioned why his girlfriend — who was reportedly driving — allegedly left him injured on the roadside.
Online commentary and independent analysis circulating on social media have pointed fingers at Jason, citing prior personal conflicts, proximity to events surrounding the incident, and conflicting accounts regarding transportation and timelines. These claims remain unverified and have not been substantiated by law enforcement.
Investigation Ongoing
At this time, no charges have been filed, and police have not named any suspects or persons of interest in connection with Davis Jr.’s death. Authorities maintain that their findings do not indicate criminal activity.
The case continues to draw attention as family members seek clarity and answers, while Jason maintains his innocence and calls for the public to refrain from speculation until all facts are known.
