Tiffany Lesueur, a 35-year-old mother from Maumee, Ohio, has been arrested after authorities say she injected fecal matter into her child’s IV line while the child was hospitalized at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.
According to reports citing a criminal complaint, hospital staff first observed Lesueur on Feb. 6 via video allegedly injecting a foreign substance into the child’s IV port. Following that incident, her visits were monitored. On Feb. 8, employees reviewing surveillance footage said they saw her enter a bathroom with a cup, place what appeared to be fecal matter into a syringe, and then inject it into the child’s intravenous tube.
Lesueur was arrested Monday, Feb. 9, and booked into the James A. Karnes Corrections Center. She faces a charge of endangering a child — torture or cruel abuse, according to jail records. Authorities have ordered her to stay away from her child and barred her from unsupervised contact with minors.
She appeared before a judge for arraignment Feb. 10, and her next court date is scheduled for Feb. 19. It was not immediately clear whether she has legal representation.
Officials have not released additional details about the child’s condition as the investigation continues.
