Police responded Tuesday night after a woman, identified on social media as Chantel Marie, posted messages claiming she was in danger, prompting concern from the community.
According to posts shared on her Facebook page, Chantel Marie said she had received threatening text messages from a man she identified as the father of her child. She also shared screenshots of the messages, which quickly drew attention online.
The Anniston Police Department confirmed they were made aware of the situation after the post began circulating and received multiple calls from concerned residents.
In a statement, police said officers initially responded to the address listed in the social media post but were unable to locate her at that location.Authorities later confirmed that Chantel Marie had been contacted by another law enforcement agency in a different jurisdiction and was found to be safe.
“We understand the concern this post generated and appreciate the community’s willingness to report it,” the department said. “We have received numerous calls regarding this matter and want to reassure the public that the situation has been addressed.”
Police emphasized that they continue to work closely with partner agencies to ensure public safety and respond promptly to potential threats.
No further details have been released at this time.
