Brittany Murdock Accused by Travene Sims of Stealing Federal and State Income Tax Refunds

Allegations have surfaced on social media against Brittany Murdock after a woman publicly accused her of stealing income tax refunds from multiple clients.

In a Facebook post shared during the early hours of Monday morning, Travene Sims claimed that Murdock improperly took her entire federal tax return several years ago. According to Sims, the refund was allegedly placed onto a Green Dot prepaid card without her authorization.

Sims further alleged that she was not the only person affected. In her post, she claimed that several other individuals whose tax filings she referred to Murdock also had their refunds taken. She additionally accused Murdock of withholding state tax returns from clients who never received their expected payments.

The social media post also claims that when confronted, Murdock allegedly blamed the situation on her sister and promised repayment — which Sims says never occurred.

Sims encouraged anyone who believes they may have been impacted to report the matter to the Internal Revenue Service using the preparer’s PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number). She urged others to share her post to prevent additional people from filing taxes with Murdock.

As of now, there is no public confirmation of criminal charges, court filings, or an official investigation related to these claims. The allegations remain statements made on social media and have not been independently verified by authorities.

Individuals who believe they are victims of tax preparer misconduct are encouraged to contact the IRS directly or file a formal complaint through official channels.
