Marion County authorities are investigating an incident in which School Resource Officer (SRO) George Eddie Page struck a student during a baseball game at Pee Dee Academy earlier this week.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the student was not a Pee Dee Academy player but was a member of the opposing team. Eyewitnesses report that during the game, the student allegedly stomped on Page’s foot with his cleats, leading to a confrontation. Several cell phone videos of the incident show Page striking the student on the side of the head with his stun gun while attempting to regain control of the situation.
Marion County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Tammy Ervin confirmed that the incident has been referred to the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) for a full investigation.
“We have turned the matter over to SLED for investigation. The deputy in question has been reassigned pending SLED’s review,” Ervin said.
Community members described the scene as chaotic, noting that Page was attempting to manage the situation when tensions escalated.
Authorities have not released additional details but confirmed the investigation is ongoing.
