Mom Tandrekia Confirms Death of Son Demetrius “Junjun” Hightower After Body Found in Flint River Identified as Missing DOCO Teen

Heartbreak continues in Dougherty County after Tandrekia confirmed that her 17-year-old son, Demetrius Junjun Hightower, has passed away. Authorities say his body was discovered in the Flint River on Saturday, February 28.

According to Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler, the remains have been positively identified as Demetrius Hightower, a teen who had been reported missing since December 2025.

The Albany Police Department (APD) previously stated on December 31, 2025, that no foul play was suspected in his disappearance at that time. Authorities have not released additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding the discovery.

Demetrius, affectionately known as “Junjun,” was a member of the Dougherty County community, and news of his passing has sent shockwaves through family, friends, and residents.

His mother, Tandrekia, has now confirmed the devastating loss as loved ones continue to seek answers and mourn the 17-year-old’s life.
