Two Men Shot Dead at Al-Baraka Cash Store in Samora Machel, Cape Town

A tragic incident unfolded early this morning, 13 March, at the Al-Baraka Cash Store in Samora Machel, Cape Town, leaving two men dead. According to witnesses, parts of the attack were allegedly recorded by the perpetrators.

The Incident

Reports indicate the shooting occurred around 6:40 a.m.. Video footage circulating online shows a young boy holding a gun, aiming at a man standing near the store entrance. A baby girl was reportedly inside the shop during the attack.

In the background of the video, a voice can be heard urging the boy to shoot. Initially, the boy pointed the weapon without firing, but he later fired, striking a man who fell to the ground and begged for forgiveness. Disturbingly, one of the boys is seen kicking the victim while he lay on the ground.

Another man, who was seated inside the store, was also targeted. The boy fired multiple shots, reportedly more than three, resulting in the man’s death.

Community Reaction

The shocking nature of the attack has left the Samora Machel community shaken. Residents have expressed concern about children being involved in violent acts, particularly incidents that occur in public spaces and near vulnerable individuals.
